The Catalonian Coast

Costa Brava holidays are your typical fun in the sun type of holiday destination. Starting at the point just north of Barcelona this picturesque region extends as far up as the eastern Spanish coast to the French border. Switching from rugged cliffs, secluded and secretive bays and acres of beach, the Costa Brava is a popular summer destination for sun lovers.

Despite popular belief, package holidays to the Costa Brava are not only restricted to just tourist resorts. The medieval walled regional capital of Gerona is proof of the extensive history of the area. There is Spanish heritage, culture and tradition to be found along the Costa Brava for those who wish to seek it.

Cheap holidays to Lloret de Mar

In contrast, for those who are looking for inexpensive holidays to Costa Brava resorts that mainly offer sand, sun and sangria in all its glory, they will definitely find them here. Thirty five miles north of Barcelona, Lloret De Mar is a busy, modern resort that boasts high-class hotels and a suitably large beach area. It also offers a generous array of bars and clubs that stay open until the very early hours and is a very popular destination for families, couples and singles alike.

Just a few miles further North is the slightly less lively and bustling area of Tossa De Mar still retains its fishing village roots but it also offers enough excitement to keep all kinds of personalities happy. It definitely doesn’t compare to the late-night excesses of Lloret De Mar but then it’s the beach that lures in the visitors not the nightlife.

It is definitely beach weather throughout summer on the Costa Brava. Temperatures can soar as high as 30°C at the height of summer although the average is nearer 24°C. The marvellous mix of summer sun, Mediterranean culture and thrilling evening entertainment is what tempts many Britons to book holidays to the Costa Brava.

Other popular resorts on the Costa Brava include Malgret De Mar and Callela, which are both within 20 miles travelling distance of Barcelona. If you like to mix and match sunbathing with discovering culture and even shopping, their location is so close to the Catalonian capital that it makes these resorts very tempting.
